Pauline Templeton is devastated when her father dies. Now the responsibility for the farm falls into her lap. If only Robert would return, then maybe she would not feel so alone.
Robert Hanson once worked on Pauline’s father’s farm. He has never forgotten the one time they spent together and plans to do whatever it takes to win her heart again.
On his death bed, Pauline’s father asks her to find a nice gentleman and marry. He wants her to start thinking about herself for a change. Pauline is heartbroken with his death. He had mentioned Robert with his last breath and how he never got to say he was sorry. Pauline is puzzled by his statement but remembers the young man who once worked for them; the one man she had given herself to in every way. She had no idea where Robert was and imagined she would die alone. After learning there is a new rancher living not far from her, she is surprised when she catches a glance of him. He has a similarity uncanny to Robert. When Robert presents himself to Pauline, he explains how her father had sent him a letter. It was time for him to return to collect the woman he had always loved, but would Pauline accept him back into her life or push him away?
Passion on the Prairie lives up to its title. One can definitely experience the zeal that flows through the story. Dedicated people who are lively and robust, willing to make a difference in their lives, this poignant story captures the reader and pulls them deep within the heart of matters. Shannon Rouchelle knows how to create genuine characters with real problems and indisputable love that touches the reader immensely in this entertaining read.

When Christine Monroe finds herself unemployed and homeless, she turns to a life on the street. One night as Christine is looking up at the night sky, she prays for a family and a better life.
Kent Peterson, a successful doctor, has recently lost his wife and is raising his little daughter, Sally, on his own. That same night, Sally prays for a new mommy to complete their family.
Soon their two worlds collide and a relationship unfolds.
Will their prayers for a happy family be answered in time for Christmas? Only time will tell.
Christmas may be behind us, but this is the kind of story I like to pick up, any time I feel I’m losing the magic of goodwill and friendships remembered.
In this story, author Shannon Rouchelle depicts the ease with which lives can fall apart. Although her heroine, Christine Monroe, has fallen on hard times she does not forget the importance of friendships, wishes and dreams and happily follows the childish rhyme to wish upon a star. But when she turns down an act of kindness from hero, Kent Peterson, she unknowingly sabotages her wish.
Every character in this story is fully formed and engages the reader in their particular way. The scene setting is brief and vivid and carries the pace fluently.
This story may be past its traditional ‘read by’ date, but don’t let that deter you from adding this charming story to your library.

After the death of her father, Pauline is left to run the family farm on her own. Heartbroken and lonely, she remembers the young cowboy who worked on the ranch years earlier and captured her heart. Longing for his return, she hears rumors of a new rancher living next door. Can it be her true love? Pauline can only wish.
Pauline never thought she would lose her father, but when she does she is left to run the family farm on her own. Brokenhearted and lonely, she recalls the young cowboy, Robert, who worked on the ranch years earlier and stole her heart. But she can’t dwell on it. There are too many things for her to do, too many pieces to pick up. However, when she sees her new neighbor who seems familiar in so many ways, Pauline can’t help but to hope.
This is the first book I have read from Ms. Rouchelle and she didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the poignant tale she created for Pauline and Robert. This story is all about misunderstanding, love lost, and a few steamy scenes of intimacy. Ms. Rouchelle has you in tears at the beginning of the book, breathless and angry in the middle and in tears again at the end.
With a few twists that I didn’t see coming, Passion on the Prairie is an intriguing fast paced story that kept my interest through every page. Trying to figure out what was going to happen had me on the edge of my chair. If you are looking for a quick yet steamy, heart-touching and passionate read, then I’d recommend this one.

As the sole survivor of an attack on Vellas, Cassandra Wellington is not just an ordinary virgin, but the bearer of an artifact that can bring peace to the world if she remains virginalH Having fallen in love with Cassandra, without knowing who she is or of her scared oath to remain pure until the Ruby Idol is returned to its sacred home, Keidon believes he has the right to fully love her in every way. Enduring unbelievable hardship to reach the Sunken Islands, will they then survive what awaits them there?
Ahhh, to be young, foolish, in love and afraid to be honest. I found this to be an entirely emotional read full of anguish, fear, distrust, betrayal, war for survival of good and evil, love in its basest form and people who will strive to do what's right no matter what the cost to themselves. The sex was HOT, the world harsh, the people all too real, yet somehow far too vulnerable. The ending leaves you waiting for the next one to see where it will take you.
"wonderfully descriptive writing"
Cassandra Wellington, banished from the family castle during battle, travels to fulfill her assigned quest: to take the Ruby Idol back to its sacred home and to marry a prince. She vows to keep this quest silent, even as she knows her father will not survive. She leaves with her protectors, determined to fulfill her orders.
Keidon, a warrior of another tribe has been killing the enemy since his wife was taken from him. He realizes it is futile to pray to see her again but he cannot yet give up hope.
When the boat Cassandra has taken to reach the Ruby Idol's home collapses into the sea, Keidon hears her cries for help and rescues her. This involves him and his army in her quest for Peace and good. Their adventures are just beginning, returning the Idol is not nearly as simple as it might seem and not only Kiedon but Cassandra learn many lessons as their travels continue.
The Rise and Fall of Keidon by Shannon Rouchelle is a really good read. The plot and characters were well thought out and I enjoyed the descriptions of scenery as well as the battles. Ms. Rouchelle has a great career ahead, I look forward to reading more from this author.

Hello Shannon,
The girls of Night Owl Romance are pleased that you have granted us an interview
We would love to get to know you -
Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?
As a young girl I always enjoyed writing stories and reading them to the entire school. I dreamed of one day writing as a career and inspire the minds of readers young and old. Before I had the chance to do this however, I worked as a special needs worker and ran my own daycare for many years. When I grew tired of this I sat at my computer and jotted down stories that were milling around in my mind. Even though I still ran my daycare, I found the time to write short stories and work on a picture book series. I eventually gave up my daycare and now work fulltime on teen fantasy novels and erotic fantasy for adults.
What’s your favorite genre to read?
My favorite genre to read would be teen and adult fantasy novels. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series and loved Lord of the Rings. A book with creative fantasy elements has always interested me. A close second would be adult horror novels written particularly by Stephen King. Even though these books tend to keep me up at night, I still can’t put them down.
What do you do on a typical writing day?
On a typical writing day I will take my boys to school and then sit at my computer. I will break for lunch and give my mind a rest before continuing on into the afternoon. By the time my children are home from school, I will break again until evening. If I still have the urge to complete a chapter or type a few more pages, I will work after the kids are in bed. Some nights I don’t retire until midnight or later.
When you have writer’s block how do you break free?
I have experienced writer’s block on several books. When this happens I take a break from whatever I’m working on and start a new project. If I’m really frustrated about a book I’m working on, I will talk to my husband. I fill him in on the plot and we bounce ideas off each other. By the time we have discussed the book from beginning to end, I’m ready to continue writing and the book writes itself.
Please tell us what you have planned next?
My next project will be the upcoming sequel to The Rise and Fall of Keidon. I have jotted down a brief outline and plan to work on it fulltime in September. Aside from this, I have another teen series I wish to complete in the next year.
In 5 years, where do you see yourself? In general and in you’re writing career.
In 5 years I hope my name is well known both in romance genre and teen. I would like to establish myself as a serious author in fantasy and will continue to promote my future works with great enthusiasm.
What type of book have you always wanted to write?
I have always been interested in writing picture books. I did attempt this at the beginning of my writing career and found it difficult to break into. Cathy Peng, a wonderful artist from Toronto, collaborated with me on our first book, Jasper Drew Cat, The Kitsville Caper. We couldn’t find a traditional publisher for our book so we self published and made it available to read online. I would like to continue to work with Cathy on this book series and make Jasper Drew Cat a dream come true.
Do deadlines help or hinder your muse?
I find deadlines help motivate me to finish my projects in a timely fashion. I have periods of great self-motivation and then times when I can’t work at all without encouragement from others. My family and friends tend to keep me motivated, especially my husband. Even though deadlines make me uptight and flustered at times, I would still rather be under pressure then have a publisher who doesn’t care.
Do you outline your books or just start writing?
I sometimes sit down and just start writing my books. What I usually do is work out how many chapters there are and name them. At the bottom of the chapter I will write a short description of what the chapter is about so that I have something to work with. It’s also a good way to refresh my memory as well.
Do you belong to a critique group? If so, how does this help or hinder you?
I don’t belong to a critique group. I have writer friends who give me advice when I need it, but I haven’t joined a group. I think a critique group could be beneficial in many ways, and maybe someday I’ll join one.
What was your first published work and when was it published?
My first published work was a horror short story, Bloody Bones Behind the Barn. It was published by an online magazine and was the featured story for Halloween. This gave me my needed break into the business and I haven’t looked back since.
How can readers find out more about you and your books?
Readers can find out more about my books by visiting my website: shannonrouchelle.com or searching for my latest works at Extasy Books and Wingsepress.
Thank you for this opportunity!

Princess Cassandra Wellington of Kensington carries the enormous burden of saving her kingdom squarely on her shoulders. She must locate the Sunken Islands and return the Ruby Idol or evil shall reign over the land.
Keidon Roke is one of the greatest warriors to ever live. His victories in battle are unparalleled, but in love he is not so lucky. He wishes for the fighting to end, and maybe one day to have a family of his own.
Cassandra is on a quest that very likely could end in her death, as well as those of her people. She must remain pure and true if she is to save humanity from evil. However, this becomes the greatest challenge of all when she meets Keidon Roke. Her destiny is to marry a prince, not a warrior, but one look at this magnificent man and her heart melts. Keidon never believed he could find another woman to love until he meets Cassandra. She literally takes his breath away with her beauty. Cassandra fights her growing passion for Keidon, but her body has a will of its own. Keidon knows nothing of Cassandra’s true identity or her quest until it is too late. Could their love be the end of mankind or the beginning of wonderful future?
This is a magical fantasy that I felt needed to break out of its mold. The characters and plot languished with predictability. The storyline felt much like movie remakes past their prime. The writing itself is well done, which makes the story flow easily. I am sure with a fresh perspective this author’s talent will really shine through.
